Finland’s balance of payments in April 2010

Current account

  • In April 2010, current account showed a deficit of EUR 263 million, compared with a deficit of EUR 256 million in April 2009.
    • In BOP terms, goods account was EUR 557 million in surplus.
    • Dividends paid abroad on portfolio investment amounted to about EUR 0.8 billion on net, ie roughly the same as in April 2009.
Portfolio investments

Financial account

  • Net outflow of EUR 2.5 billion in investment capital.
    • Net inflow of EUR 0.1 billion in direct investment.
    • Net inflow of EUR 1.8 billion in portfolio investment.
    • Net outflow of EUR 5.4 billion in other investment (loans, deposits and trade credits).
Corporate foreign liabilities

Net international investment position (niip) at the end of april

  • Finland’s NIIP negative, in the amount of EUR 5 billion.
    • Finnish residents’ foreign assets EUR 478 billion.
    • Finnish residents’ foreign liabilities EUR 482 billion.
  • Finland’s NIIP excluding equity items negative, in the amount of EUR 45 billion.
