Professor Michael Funke joined the Economics Department of the Humboldt-University in Berlin as an Associate Professor of Economics in the early 1990s. In 1995 he was appointed as a Chair Professor for Macroeconomics and Quantitative Economic Policy in the Department of Economics of Hamburg University. Professor Funke was chairman of the Standing Committee on Macroeconomics of the German Economics Association from 2010-2014. He is a CESifo Fellow, and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Scottish Journal of Political Economy. He has published numerous papers focused on economic growth, business cycles, and monetary theory and policy with an Asian focus. For the last decade he has been a visiting Research Fellow at the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research, the Bank of Finland Monetary Policy and Research Department, and the Bank for International Settlements. His research interests include macroeconomics, applied econometrics, and climate research, and he is a Principal Investigator for the Cluster of Excellence Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction (CliSAP).
